In September, a completely new chapter began for Niklas Stryhn Bostrøm. He started his online studies at Erhvervsakademi Dania, moved into his first owner-occupied apartment in Roskilde, and began working as a Marketing Coordinator at Talentech — all at once. In addition, Niklas runs his own company, Nordic Creators, and if that wasn’t enough, he’s also a content creator and Twitch streamer.
"September marked some huge changes for me: a new city, new studies, and a new job. It all felt like opening the next chapter of my life. It meant a lot to me that I was able to combine everything and bring my passion and experience into play at Talentech," says Niklas.
Spotting the right job
When Niklas sees a job advertisement, he always starts with the position title and description. He assesses whether he can see himself in the role and whether the tasks and responsibilities match his skills and ambitions.
"The position attracts me if I can use my competencies and at the same time continue to build experience and learning in the areas that interest me."Reasonable demands and working conditions
For Niklas, like many others in his age group, the demands on the employer are about more than just the salary.
"Salary and working conditions should reflect responsibility and effort. I value flexibility and loyalty, and I need open, constructive feedback so I can develop. It is important that my efforts are appreciated and that there are opportunities to try new things and express myself. A social work environment means a lot. We need to remember that we are people, not just robots."
When he looks for a new job, four things are crucial:
-
Good working conditions and flexibility, so the balance between work and free time can be maintained
-
Exciting tasks and development opportunities that motivate and challenge
-
Social responsibility towards society and the environment
- Reasonable salary and working hours that match the tasks and responsibilities
Making a difference motivates
Niklas feels that he makes a difference when his work has a positive impact on colleagues, customers, and the company, when his solutions are used, or when feedback shows that his efforts are valued.
"It motivates me that my efforts contribute to development and good result — for both the company and those around me."
Culture, inclusion, and personal development
Culture and inclusion are crucial to Niklas. He thrives best in workplaces where diversity is accepted and everyone feels welcome, just as he has experienced in his own community as a content creator and Twitch streamer, where he has built a network of over 10,000 followers with several different profiles.
"There must be room for everyone, and people should feel welcome. Inclusion is a core value, both for me and in the teams I am part of."
Company purpose and social responsibility
For Niklas, the company’s purpose and societal impact matter greatly.
"I want to work for a company that has a clear purpose and where my work creates real value, also for society. I see it as a plus if there is a focus on sustainable practices and ethics."
If the company's values go against his own, or if he gets a poor impression of the workplace through reviews or rumors, he considers saying no. Social aspects and respect for diversity also weigh heavily in the decision.
The recruitment process should be personal and transparent
Niklas experienced the recruitment at Talentech as honest and personal.
"It makes a big difference when the process is transparent and you get ongoing information throughout. As an applicant, you feel safe and appreciated," he explains.
Companies that succeed with inclusion and purpose deserve praise:
"I’ve experienced workplaces where all employees are heard and where the company’s purpose is felt in everyday life. That gives job satisfaction and engagement."
The new chapter at Talentech
For Niklas, September was the month where everything fell into place—a chapter full of ambition, the interplay of new studies, a new job and a move, as well as a strong community at Talentech.
His story is a reflection of what matters to a young employee today: meaning, community, respect, and development — and that there must be room to be yourself.
